The G-8 Arc in One Piece Is Exactly What All Anime Filler Should Strive to Be

I just finished watching the G-8 arc in One Piece, and it easily takes the cake for the best filler arc so far!! It gets an easy 10/10 from me. 🏴☠️
It serves as a perfect transition from the rest of the Sky Island saga. Dropping the Going Merry right into a heavily fortified Marine base provides an amazing showcase for how well the crew can take down heaps of enemies without any issue. And overall it does a masterful job showing just how far their individual strength and teamwork have come together!
My Current Saga Rankings & Scores
Looking back at where I am in the story, here is how the big sagas stack up for me right now:
• The Alabasta Saga: 9.6/10 — Absolutely incredible worldbuilding and emotional stakes. Truly peak storytelling.
• The Sky Island Saga: 9.5/10 — Just barely falls short of Alabasta, but the sense of adventure was unmatched and G-8 wrapped it up flawlessly.
• The East Blue Saga: 7.8/10 — A solid foundation that started the whole journey, setting up the world and the core crew perfectly.
What's Next?
From what I've gathered from the fandom, it looks like there may be a few weaker arcs directly ahead of me. However, I am incredibly excited to power through them because I'm finally encroaching on the legendary peak I've heard so much about: Water 7 and Enies Lobby.
